Credit and debit cards can be declined for a number of reasons: incorrect card details, insufficient funds, a security block from your bank, or your bank's own restrictions on online gambling transactions. Try another card, check your details, or contact your bank to find out why.
Why might my credit or debit card not work for a deposit?
A card can be declined for a deposit for a few common reasons:
- Incorrect card details. Double check your card number, expiry date, and CVV are entered correctly.
- Insufficient funds. Make sure there's enough available balance or credit on the card to cover the deposit.
- A security or fraud block from your financial institution. Some financial institutions automatically decline transactions they flag as unusual or high-risk.
- Your financial institution's own policy on online gambling transactions. As Oz Lotteries is an online lottery service, some financial institutions restrict or decline transactions of this type. If this happens, you may need to contact your financial institution before you can complete a card transaction with us.
What can I do if my card isn't working?
If your card is declined for a deposit, try one of these alternatives:
- Try another credit or debit card.
- Make a direct deposit or bank transfer into our bank account. Once received, we'll transfer the funds into your Oz Lotteries account, this can take 1–3 business days to appear in your balance.
- Use BPAY or PayPal, both available for Australian customers.
To see all available deposit options go to Deposit Funds in your Oz Lotteries account or see What are my payment options?
If you'd like to understand why your card was declined, contact your financial institution directly, they will have the most accurate information.
