How does Powerball work?

What is Powerball?

Powerball is a weekly Australian lotto game played every Thursday night. It uses two barrels of numbers. The first barrel holds 35 balls, numbered 1 to 35. The second barrel holds 20 balls, numbered 1 to 20.

Seven winning numbers are drawn from the first barrel. One number, called the Powerball, is drawn from the second barrel.

How do I win a Powerball prize?

You win a prize by matching your numbers, the 7 main numbers and the Powerball, to the numbers drawn. The more numbers you match, the higher the prize division you win.

For example, matching all 7 main numbers plus the Powerball wins Division 1, the top prize. Matching fewer numbers may still win a prize in a lower division. For more information on winning combinations, visit the Powerball page.
