In order to win a prize, you need to match your numbers to the numbers drawn; your ticket is read from left to right. Only one division will be valid per game - therefore, only the highest winning division will be paid.
It is also important to note that a number can be a main, a supplementary or a specific type such as a Powerball. This means that they are only able to be classed as that type of number (ie. main or supplementary). These are not interchangeable. You must also have all the numbers in one game only, not over several games.
- A main number is the first numbers drawn in the lottery draw.
- A supplementary number is the final 'bonus' numbers drawn to give chances for other division wins.
- A game is the line (one set of numbers) on a ticket.
Example 1:
In Powerball, you need to have at least 2 main numbers and the Powerball in one game to win a division (Division 8).
Results: Mains 1 2 3 4 5 6 Powerball 7
You may have Mains 1 4 7 Powerball 8, but that 7 must be in the position of the Powerball for this to win.
Example 2:
In Oz Lotto, you need to have at least 3 main numbers and 1 or both supplementary numbers in one game to win a division (Division 7).
Results: Mains 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Supps 8 9
You may have Mains 1 2 8 9, but you would need one more main number for this to win.
Furthermore, in Lotto Strike, not only do you need to match the numbers drawn, they also need to be in the order drawn. For example: the numbers 1 2 3 4 are drawn - you need exactly 1 2 3 4 to win, and it cannot be 4 3 2 1.
