A Syndicate lets you buy one of 10 shares in a group ticket for Oz Lotto, Powerball, Saturday Lotto or Weekday Windfall, sharing the cost and splitting any prize equally. Syndicate entries close at 5:15pm AEST (6:15pm AEDT), and numbers are QuickPick only. If a Syndicate doesn't fill before the draw, it's cancelled and your share cost is refunded to your Oz Lotteries account.
What is a Syndicate?
A Syndicate, also known as group play, lets you buy a share in a group ticket, so the cost of the ticket is shared between the members of the group. Oz Lotteries organises the group for you: once all shares are bought, we buy the ticket on the group's behalf.
Each syndicate is made up of ten shares. When all shares in a Syndicate are sold, a new Syndicate will become available.
Which games can I play in a Syndicate?
Syndicates are available for Oz Lotto, Powerball, Saturday Lotto and Weekday Windfall. You can buy a share on each game's Syndicates page.
Each game offers Small, Medium, Large and X-Large Syndicates. Every Syndicate, whatever its size, has 10 shares.
When do Syndicate entries close?
Syndicate entries close at 5:15pm AEST (6:15pm AEDT). All other ticket types, except Lotto Party, stay open until 7:27pm AEST (8:27pm AEDT).
To make sure you don't miss a draw, you can set up AutoPlay to buy your entries automatically. Learn more in How do I manage my AutoPlay tickets?
What happens after I buy a Syndicate share?
After you buy a share, we will send email updates at each stage:
- Share reserved: your share is reserved in the current Syndicate of the size you chose, and you'll receive an email confirming your purchase.
- Syndicate filled: the Syndicate is finalised once all 10 shares are bought. How long this takes depends on how quickly the other shares sell. When it fills, we buy the ticket and email you your ticket numbers.
- Results: the morning after the draw, you'll receive an email with the results of your Syndicate ticket, including a summary of any prizes won.
You can view your drawn tickets at any time in My Account > My Tickets > Drawn Tickets.
Can I buy more than one share in a Syndicate?
Yes. If you buy several shares of the same Syndicate type within a short time, they're likely to be reserved in the same Syndicate. To buy into different Syndicates, wait for the email confirming that each Syndicate has filled before buying your next share.
Can I choose my own numbers in a Syndicate?
No. All Syndicate tickets are QuickPick only. You'll receive your ticket numbers by email once all shares in the Syndicate have been bought.
What happens if a Syndicate doesn't fill before the draw?
If the other shares in your Syndicate aren't sold before the draw, the Syndicate is cancelled. The cost of your share is refunded to your Oz Lotteries account shortly after the draw, and you'll receive an email letting you know your pending share has been cancelled.
How are Syndicate payments and winnings handled?
Oz Lotteries manages every Syndicate, including collecting payments, buying the ticket and paying out any winnings. If your Syndicate wins, the prize is divided equally between all shares and deposited directly into each member's Oz Lotteries account.
After the draw, you can see your full transaction history, including results, on your Transactions page.
Why does my Syndicate ticket show fewer lines than games?
Syndicate tickets are shown in a shortened format that's easier to read and print, but every game is still included. Learn more in Why does my Powerball Syndicate ticket show fewer lines than games?
How is a Syndicate different from Lotto Party?
A Syndicate is public: Oz Lotteries groups you with other players. To make your own Syndicate with people you choose, use Lotto Party. Learn more in What is Lotto Party?
